Grades K-3 Reading

“I attended your presentation  for SCIRA and I thought it was wonderful.  I am a guided reading teacher in my district. You had some wonderful ideas that I can take back to the teachers I work with.  You had so many great things to say I could not take notes fast enough.  I have already purchased your guided reading book.  Thank you again for a wonderful presentation.”

Differentiating Instruction with Guided Reading:  Making the Most of the 18 Minute Lesson

Guided reading is one of the most important tools we have for meeting the needs of students at all stages of development.  Find out how guided reading can be used to impact the three key areas of differentiated curriculum: content, process and product.  This session will present a multi-stage lesson plan which goes back into the text for comprehension work, word study and a writing component.

Guided Reading:  What are the Other Kids doing?

How can we engage students in meaningful independent learning while we work with a small group?  It’s simple: read or write.   In this session we’ll discuss routines and activities, classroom management and a basic two-day organizational structure.
